2009 NEWS
I want to thank my customers from last year; I was very
pleased with the sales. I donated five trees for
the Spirit Foundation Trees for Troops program, and then
went on to sell 120 trees. Since I have averaged
planting 125 seedlings each year, the season was
perfect. I hope to see each of you again. Remember
to bring your camera so we can help you capture Making
Memories with this year's tree!
DECORATIVE SUPPLY
I have developed a product from my field that might be
of interest to those with creative spirits. I have
produced a wood turning that can be used in potpourri or
centerpieces. Perhaps it is unique in the world. The
turnings are different than shavings in that the tree's
growth rings are clearly visible, not just wood grain. I
have both natural and ones dyed scarlet red for sale.
See the left picture below. Several arrangements are pictured
at right below incorporating
some turnings. You may click on each picture to enlarge.

I
produced the centerpiece using 1/4 ounce of natural and
scarlet turnings. Sarah Johnson of Country Creations
created the two jars of potpourri. I will have
pine and fir turnings in separate bowls for you to
choose from. You can bag the ones you want in any
combination of species or color. The cost is $2.00 per
ounce. I am always amazed at the creativity of
people and challenge you to try this product. Send
me a picture using the "EMAIL BUCK" link at the top of
the page and I may include it in the web site next year.
The turnings are very light weight; could you design a
Christmas tree ornament with one of them or just hang
them on the tree?

NORWAY SPRUCE TREES
I have three Norway spruce trees that I want to give
away this year. The trees are 11-12' tall. The seedlings
were purchased from the State Nursery to use as a
windbreak. I promised not to sell the trees. The three
trees have grown too close to others and I want to cut
them down. I can grind them up for mulch but would
rather see them enjoyed by some families. Norway
spruce is a short-needled tree like a fir but the
needles are very sharp (ouch!). The branches are stiff
but needle retention is poor. Needles will begin to drop
before 14 days and profusely by 21 days. Because
of this I won't cut them until Thursday, December 10.
You can look at them ahead of time but I will require a
$25.00 refundable deposit to hold the tree. The trees
are very dense and heavy and will require two men to
handle when loading. They will require a large stand to
display. They are too big to go through my baler.
